The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Wind Advisory for portions of southeast California... southern Nevada and northwest Arizona... which is in effect from 2 PM PDT /2 PM MST/ this afternoon to 11 PM PDT /11 PM MST/ this evening. * Winds: southwest winds between 20 and 30 mph with gusts to between 40 and 50 mph. * Timing: winds will increase by early this afternoon with the strongest winds expected late this afternoon and evening before decreasing overnight. * Locations: include but are not limited to Lake Havasu... Kingman... Mohave Valley... shosone... Needles... Pioche... Pahrump... desert rock... Las Vegas... mountains edge... Searchlight. * Impacts: strong Crosswinds may make driving difficult at times... while blowing sand and dust may rapidly lower visibilities to less than a mile. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory means that Crosswinds are expected to be strong enough to make driving difficult... especially for high profile vehicles. In addition... strong winds over desert areas could result in briefly lowered visibilities to well under a mile at times in blowing dust or blowing sand. Use extra caution. |

Precautionary/preparedness actions... A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or are imminent. A combination of strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will create extreme fire growth potential. |
