... Heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening... A heat advisory remains in effect until 7 PM CDT this evening. Upper level high pressure will continue to be dominate over North Texas today... resulting in another very hot day today with high temperatures ranging between 99 and 108 degrees. Combined with the humidity... expect afternoon heat index values to between 105 and 110 degrees. In addition... overnight lows will struggle to cool below 80 degrees across many locations. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during hot weather when the inside of vehicles can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes... despite cracking windows or previously having used air-conditioning. Persons involved in vigorous outdoor activities are urged to take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water. Wear loose fitting and light-colored clothing. Be sure to check on persons with health problems and the elderly... as they are the most susceptible to heat exhaustion and heat stroke. |
